Rain at last

Our Internet connection was cut for almost 24 hours since yesterday. Everyone was upset, to say the least. Most of our work were stopped. It got me thinking about how 20 years ago we worked without the Internet and we survived .... so it was like living in the good old days without computers. You know what? Yesterday we chatted more, we laughed more, we got to know each other more ... really! I spoke with a couple of students whom I never got to speak to though I've seen them for over a year here in school. Hmmmm computers can be a hindrance to human contact.

And yesterday Marco defended his thesis. It was a very crowded hall. And he had a home-cooked party in the evening - great pasta and fish.

But the highlight yesterday was the rain. We didn't expect it as the sky was not dark and threatening as it was before. But it suddenly came in the midmorning. Rain, at times very heavy.... right through into the night. We think the rains might have knocked out our Internet connection as it knocked out the power for the lights in the streets. Our area's streets were all dark. But it rained and we're all very happy. Now if only it'll last for the next few months!
