Teresa of Avila

Today is the feast of St. Teresa of Avila. Strange that her feastday is celebrated on Oct. 15th when she actually died on Oct. 4th. But its a long story. You see the calendar they used back in the 16th century was not Gregorian but Julian system. I think in 1582 the Gregorian system was imposed by Pope Gregory (of course) by adding 11 days into the calendar. These were inserted on Oct. 4th so suddenly in that year, Oct. 4th became Oct. 15th. So the feast of St Teresa, which originally was Oct. 4th became Oct. 15th. Hope I got the facts right here!

Anyway she is a great saint. You should read up a bit about her life.

I'm back into work by analysing the structure of Wis. 11 and 12. This part is fun. But also very tricky.

School has of course started and lots of students are busy signing up for new courses. It's good to see some old friends again. And Sr. Maria, the spanish sister who used to work in our library, is back after a 3 year break. Welcome back!
