Miracle baby

It's the desert demon that's causing all the restlessness - that's what the bedouins call it - the demon of the sands. The sky is yellowish-brown with dust and sand; a stifling heat hangs over the air like a blanket, suffocating everything beneath it. It is humid and not a breeze is blowing. This makes people feel tired and listless in the day, and sleepless in the night. Everyone's feeling it ... the demon of the sands "slouching towards Bethlehem to be born" (remember that poem? The Second Coming? Was it Yeats?)

There's a big wedding going on behind somewhere our house. Fireworks falling into our courtyard, organised spontaneity erupting every few minutes in the alley behind our school. They don't seem bothered by the desert demon. In fact the fireworks are meant to scare him away. Well it's the 2nd day of festivities for them .... so they must be very rich.

And I have to work overtime to get my research done. The demon is not helping obviously. But I must trudge on ahead.

By the way did you see the video of the pram and the baby falling into the railway tracks and the train ran over it? And the baby was unhurt? That WAS a miracle.
