Now that the penalty for not wearing masks has gone up, more people are wearing the mask ... but still there are those who don't wear it or wear it under their chins. And once again here in East Jerusalem, the police are not enforcing the law.

And it's not dying of coronavirus that's bothering some people ... in the israeli-arab communities, more killings. And there're complains of mismanagement in this pandemic as no clear strategy is mapped out. Bipimbap surprise

Yesterday something must have happened in our area because the police closed off Lions Gate all day. No vehicles could go in or out. Only pedestrians were allowed access. This is one of the uncertainties of living here ... you never know when you can enter or leave.   

The other day Angela the korean resident brought me bibimbap again. It's very nice of her as she had to cook it and drive over. I like bibimbap because it's simple and has lots of veggies. I should cook something back for her in return ... but I don't know what. And I don't know where she stays.

The Raat Ki Rani or night-blooming jasmine continues to flower and its overpowering perfume continues to fascinate everyone. The flowers are tiny but profuse and the scent is strong. Bats are moths are attracted to it during the night. For me it smells like a typical summer night.

I've been having a headache for the past 3 days because I haven't slept well. Each night I'm choked by phlegm and have to sit up for a couple of hours. It exhausts me for the rest of the day and gives me a horrible headache.
