Tension Tuesday

The walk up the street to Herod's Gate was surreal. Not a soul in sight. Only me. Even the usual bread sellers who get up early are missing. And the street was strewn with rocks and broken bottles. Last night there were attacks on the street with rock and bottle throwing. Alot of chaos at about 10pm.

At the Gate, the blockade was up and some 20 soldiers were hanging around. They let me out the City. Later I came back. I saw a dozen or so arabs being turned away by the soldiers at the Gate. But they let me through without checking my passport. Back inside the City street I could count the number of people - not more than 15 - mostly students going to schools outside the City.

At the road corner to my place, I met a couple of arab friends who told me to stay away from the streets at 9am because something is going to happen. Well .... let's see.
