| Giovanni makes dumplings |
An infernal day of 35 degrees ... it was so hot I can't find the words to describe it. Suffice to say your skin sizzles when you go out. This heatwave will go on for a couple more days before cooling down a little at midweek. The muslims begin their feast of Adha tonight ... in the middle of the heatwave. Thousands have been crowding into the Old City to get into the Dome of the Rock where Abraham attempted to sacrifice Ismail (jewish version is Isaac). But the heatwave and crowds ... I just cannot imagine how anyone can survive that.

| Giovanni's dumplings |
Yesterday I went to my office to work ... where there's an aircon. The Chinese sisters called to say Giovanni our volunteer journalist is learning how to wrap Chinese dumplings and lunch is ready. So I went over to see how he managed. No bad for a first try. I couldn't eat much as the weather was too hot to eat a full meal.
I rested early as the weather was really intolerable. I couldn't read or write. Even Buddy and JJ were restless. Let's hope there'll be a breeze tomorrow. I must go to Nablus, about 100km away in the central highlands. It's not fun when it's hot.
