Today is the feast day of Clare of Assisi. It's a big day for us. Solemn Mass will be celebrated at the Poor Clare monastery probably by our Archbishop who is a franciscan. I won't be going as I have Mass with the old nuns of Ivrea in the village and then work all morning in the library.

Meantime there's a strange dilemma cooking up in the Jordan Valley. The failed crocodile farm is packed with crocodiles .... breeding like crazy and the owners don't know what to do. They can't kill it for the meat or skin as it's against Israeli law ... crocodiles are an endangered species. Nobody wants to buy them live for zoos or whatever. And a flood could wash these animals into the nearby Jordan river, potentially a danger to people who go there to raft or be baptized. It happened once before during the flood several years ago and some 70 animals escaped. Most were killed by passing vehicles but many also escaped into the river.
