Give up

Yummy lebanese fatteh
I had lunch at a local family's home last week. The grandparents escaped from Lebanon during the 1970s war and came to Israel and the next 2 generations were born and bred here in Israel. They're a simple family ... the youngest son Jack runs a small restaurant which I occasionally get a sandwich or spaghetti when I'm really hungry at work and have no time to go home to eat. Jack's wife made an incredibly delicious lebanese fatteh - fresh salad smothered in tehina and yoghurt under a layer of toasted breadcrumbs, and topped with a layer of minced beef. You need to taste it to understand what I mean. Utterly incredible!! I had 3 helpings. And after lunch Jack's wife wanted to pack the leftover fatteh for me to bring home but I said no. I have no fridge to store it so the yoghurt would go bad.

I was very exhausted today even at 8am. Everyone coming up to complain to me about elevators not working, WIFI not working etc etc ... and it's NOT my responsibility!!!!!! I am a librarian, not a technician or engineer!!!! It was all so frustrating. So I walked out ... didn't go to work. Just went for a very very long walk for 5 hours ... far far away. Just disappeared voluntarily.

Well actually I was already mentally exhausted yesterday. I kept thinking that yesterday (Monday) was Thursday. Went to class prepared for lessons and the students told me it's Monday class not Thursday ... got the subjects wrong. Went to meetings that didn't take place, made calls that were due in 4 days time instead. It was total absolute chaos. I knew my mind is no longer working. I'm mentally exhausted. And with little sleep as well. And then today with all the relentless complains.

I wish life was like a nice quiet lunch of delicious lebanese fatteh ... and hell with the rest of the world.
