Terrible attack

Horrible attack yesterday afternoon just south of Jerusalem's Old City in Gilo. An innocent old man was stabbed to death. http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1222017605824&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

This is only going to create more roadblocks, more checkpoints, more retaliation. http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1222017609728&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

Yesterday evening I was up at Pater Noster monastery of Carmelite nuns - that's where we commemorate Christ teaching the Lord's Prayer to the disciples - up on the Mt of Olives. We (me and Thiago and Cris) joined in their vespers and after that several sisters and the superior stayed to chat. They have some young sisters from Korea and the Philippines (I guess) while the rest are French and Arab christians. Total of 16 nuns there. We were allowed to enter the cloister (horrors!!!!) and it was beautiful with a cross in the middle (typical of all Carmelite monasteries) and lovely autumn flowers in bloom - roses, chrysanthemums and a type of strawberry bush (the leaves and flowers are typical strawberry but it was very tall, 3 feet high!)

When we finished chatting, it was 6pm and I had to rush back for our own Vespers - remember this week I'm the hebdom. Thiago drove the car so he dropped me off at Damascus Gate - and we said goodbye, which may be the last time because he's going back to Brazil next week for his holidays and I have a sneaky feeling he will stay there for good - to get married. It's been tough for him living 2 years in Israel away from his fiancee. So Thiago, have a great life with Adelina; and remember "man, you don't know nothing!"

Tomorrow we celebrate the Holyland's patron - Our Lady of the Holyland. Will let you know what happened. Pray that Our Lady of the Holyland will bring peace to this land.
