In a gesture to understand better the Jewish understanding of the Old Testament, the chief rabbi of Haifa (Israel) was invited to address the Synod of Bishops. However things fell foul as the rabbi used the occassion instead to attack the Church especially Pope Pius XII regarding the Holocaust, which has nothing to do with the Synod discussion.
