Feast of the Stigmata

Conflicting weather forecasts for today. Some sites say it'll rain (60% chance), others say no rain. Well the sky is dark and overcast. And it feels very damp in the air. Let's hope it'll rain - after all, Sukkot is just a few days away.

This evening begins Yom Kippur. Our street is deathly quiet. Hardly anyone in the street except the couple of tourist groups who have no clue how dangerous things can become in a wink of an eye, and they MUST see the places marked out in their itin. The price of ignorance could be costly.

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Stigmata of St Francis. He received it in a vision up on Mt. La Verna (otherwise called Mt. Alvernia for english speakers). Lorenzo presided at Mass and he preached a lovely sermon. There were only 5 of us for Mass. Everyone else went to the Poor Clare Monastery because the Abbess is celebrating her 25th Jubilee of profession. The Patriarch is presiding at the Mass, I think. Let's pray St Francis will send us a surprise and let it rain!
