Carmel fires have largely been contained - not doused but contained. But 12,000 acres of land have been destroyed and millions of trees burnt. The dead have been buried - including a 16 yr old volunteer. Photos of the last moments of the burning bus were captured but it is all too distressing to see. I couldn't look at them, not at the last moments of people's lives as they burn to death. They should not have printed them on the newspapers. It's not right.
The fires have united Palestinian, Turkish and Israeli firefighters, working shoulder to shoulder. The gigantic American 747 douser arrived this morning and with the other foreign planes and helicopters have circled the skies to douse the flames. And tonight we hear some possible good news - slight rain tomorrow in the north ... hopefully enough to wet the ground to stop further fires from spreading.
Unfortunately nothing in this country is far from politics and religion. Hamas has announced that the Carmel fires are divine punishment on Israel. Hamas however has called for a special day of prayer for rain today.
Another shark attack at Sharm el Sheikh - this time deadly. The German tourist died. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-11922032
