Immaculate Conception

Another day of drizzling yesterday. Not quite enough but better than nothing. The weather forecast says the next few days will be hot again but on Saturday rains will return with hailstorm, temp. falling to as low as 3 degrees. Let's hope so.

For the past 2 days the muslims have been celebrating their New Year. Lots of drumming, singing and dancing in the streets of the Old City. The Jews are ending the feast of Hanukkah today. But for us, it's the wonderful feast of the Immaculate Conception. Though it's a celebration of Mary's birth without original sin, it's also a reminder (from the 2nd reading) that we are all called to this new life - a recreated life, a renewal of creation and especially of ourselves.
