Games fever

Singapore won it's first Olympic medal in 60 yrs! Silver for the women's table tennis team! fantastic!

Alot of news on Phelps, but what caught my eye (and it seems to be lost in the news) is Tunisia's Oussama Mellouli's gold in the 1,500m freestyle. Although he was dropped from the 2004 games for doping, he now has made it big. Or Cesar Cielo of Brazil winning the gold in the 50m freestyle. Underdog winners are the real stars of the Games - it makes the Olympics so much more exciting when something unexpected happens.

Have you noticed what the winners are presented with after they get their medals? - red roses wrapped in fern and hosta .... duuuuuh?! I expected maybe chinese chrysanthemums or an artistic bamboo carving or even a panda doll or replica Ming vase ... you know .... something characteristically chinese. But red roses in fern and hosta???? Happy Valentine's Day!!!
