The prince is coming

Preparations for the Light Festival

Prince William of England is on his way to Jerusalem. He should arrive in 2 and a half hours. But for the past week there has been already a lot of noise about this visit because he would be the 1st british royalty to visit the Wailing Wall ... but it's printed in his itinerary as part of East Jerusalem (Palestine). That did not at all go well with the Israelis who consider the whole of Jerusalem as part of Israel. Then this morning the Holocaust museum was said to be upset that the Prince was not paying a visit to it. It's going to be a very interesting visit of the prince ... walking on eggshells. Every act will be judged politically. 

The rest of the City will be blocked ... roads, streets, places. It's not going to be convenient for us. And believe me, many will not be happy mainly for the traffic disturbance rather than the political reasons.

Tensions continue to rise in the northern border as pro-Assad forces capture a UN camp near Israel's border. And El AL is again under fire by caving into ultra-orthodox men's demand to remove women sitting next to them. When it happened several years ago the Supreme Court ruled it discriminatory and awarded a holocaust survivor damages from ultra-orthodox jewish demands that she be moved from her plane seat. But this time 4 men delayed the flight for over an hour and El Al caved in and moved the women ... against the judgement of the Supreme Court. Well last night I saw more exhibits being put up for the Light Festival due on Thursday. I'm quite excited ... as my summer "holidays" are ordinary workdays ... dotted with concerts and festivals and long walks. It's something I look forward to.
