It's good to see the Pope taking the lead in housing refugees, and calling all churches and monasteries and convents to house at least one family. This is the moral force that european govts are seriously lacking. Following behind are Austria and Germany ... the people (not govt) are welcoming the refugees and providing temporary help. Now let's see if UK will do something significant ... after all they were the lapdog of the US's decision to bomb the Middle East into chaos. These last 2 culprits who have started the mess and tragedy in our region are very silent and not accepting any refugees at all. Don't worry UK and US ... we don't want to be in your country in the first place. You don't deserve us.

Christian schools continue to remain shut despite the opening of the school year. And today we learn that Israeli Arab schools will also close in support of the christian demand for justice. That means muslim schools as well. That's good. The move to cut 45% of subsidies to christian schools while setting a ceiling on how much schools can ask parents to pay is the rightist move to kill off christian education. And it has been proven year after year that these christian schools outdo in excellence even the Israeli schools, with very high success rates. Don't forget you can help our christian children attain this excellent education through a sponsorship programme.
The weather remains hot and dry. Autumn is setting in because Rosh Hashanah is next week, followed by Yom Kippur and then Sukkoth. It's the Jewish High Holy Days ... practically a month in duration. As for me, I think I'll celebrate with some Dim Sum ... it's getting so popular here that now there's a local company making frozen Dim Sum and selling them to asian restaurants and supermarkets. Will take a photo when I go buy some.
