St Joseph Day

Mandolin and zither
performers at David's street
Quite a crazy day ... mainly because I am either too tired or the weather is getting on me. Was feeling very dizzy and light-headed. Had to lie down and eventually sleep through the morning till afternoon. Thought I missed 2 classes and wrote to the principle to apologies but he replied saying there's no school today because it's the feast of St Joseph.

The weather is crazy ... after 3 days of heat over 35 degrees, suddenly yesterday and today it dropped to 8 degrees. I know lots of people are sick because of this.

A sensational performance at the
ancient Cardo
Decided to go and see the Sounds of the Old City festival in the evening in order to get some fresh air. Usually there's a festival organised every summer and autumn but this year, the municipality decided on a Spring event as well. Lots of music groups performing at various points in the 4 quarters of the Old City - a mix of arab and jewish performers. Mixture of traditional arab, jewish and modern music. Good variety. There was Gospel music from America at the Tower of David, jazz at the Muristan and lots of traditional arab instruments (oud, zither) used by both arab and jewish musicians. Very delightful. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice way to spend St Joseph's Day.
