It rained for the past two nights. Terribly cold. Thank goodness for the heatpacks the Singapore group brought. I kept a couple for myself for emergency use - and the rest were passed on to the sisters of Mother Theresa. It sure kept my feet warm throughout the night.
Despite the cold, students are slogging through the night and day for the exams. Everyone walking around with a textbook in their hands. Pacing nervously. Coffee cups abound. Eyes closed, lips reciting what the mind can remember. Thank goodness I don't have to go through this anymore.
Its always the winter exams that get our students here in our school all wound up. There's the Christmas holidays but the festive spirit gets dampened by the exams.
The days have been brilliant though. Deep blue skies. But the wind is still cold. People are going about their business briskly to escape the cold. But many also bask in the sun.
The gates of St. Stephen's Basilica were opened this morning and the lovely sunshine gave it a very picturesque atmosphere. The statue of the saint supplicating before being stoned to death looked very evocative of what local christians all experience here - persecution.
Gaza continues to shell Israel with missiles. Israel's IDF struck and killed a terrorist in Gaza. So another winter day passes. The year seems to end like how it started.
