Began working in the library yesterday: catching up on my bibliography. Also started on a couple of verses of analysis of the text. I feel pretty tired most of the time so I fell asleep yesterday afternoon while studying. Weird. Someone said it's probably because I'm not eating enough(everything here is cooked with buckets of salt - even rice is boiled in salt water) and have no energy. But I hvae to be strict on this so as to stabilise my BP before making any other changes in lifestyle. I feel embarassed to go and ask food from Mother Theresa's sisters everyday. It's like imposing on them.
Today begins the Jewish Passover. Security is extremely tight these few days in the Old City. From our terrace I can see the city gates closed to all traffic and everyone going in or out by foot is searched. Tomorrow our school is organising a trip to Samaria where we will see the Samaritan Passover - killing of the lambs etc. It's a unique occassion for many of the students and professors who have never seen it.
Meanwhile the readings for this week is from Acts and recalls Paul's first missionary trip to Asia Minor and his major speech in Antioch of Pisidia where he officially declared his choice to preach to the gentiles. That was a pretty drastic change in lifestyle choices! From an ardent Jewish loyalist, he swung to become a fervant Christian preacher. Well if he could make that lifestyle change, so can I (eat less salt) and ....... so can you ..... whatever choice God wishes you to take.
